The ESKUTE Story – Built by Engineers, Built for Riders
In 2019, a group of engineers and designers came together with a clear vision. Led by Alan—a professional with 16 years of experience in the battery field—they set out to solve a problem they saw across Europe.
E-bikes were too expensive. And they weren‘t built for the people who needed them most.
So they built their own.
The Name: Why “ESKUTE”?
The name “ESKUTE” comes from the Portuguese word “escute” —which means “to listen”.
That‘s not a coincidence. From day one, the brand was built around listening to riders. What do commuters actually need? What’s missing from the e-bikes already on the market? What would make electric transportation truly accessible?
The answers to those questions shaped everything that came next.
From Batteries to Bikes
Before ESKUTE was a bike brand, it was a battery company.
Loongtech Co., Ltd—ESKUTE‘s parent company—was founded in 2012, focusing on research and production of power batteries. In 2014, they entered the electric transportation field. And in 2019, they launched their own electric bicycle brand: ESKUTE.
This matters. Battery expertise is the backbone of every good e-bike. Range, reliability, safety—it all starts with the battery. And ESKUTE‘s founders knew batteries inside and out.
Today, ESKUTE‘s factory spans over 10,000 square meters with a monthly production capacity of over 10,000 electric bicycles. The brand is sold in Europe, the US, the UK, Japan, and South Korea.
The Mission: Affordable E-Bikes for Everyone
When ESKUTE looked at the European e-bike market, they saw a problem: quality e-bikes were priced out of reach for ordinary people.
Their solution? Cut out the middleman. Build their own factories. Reduce supply chain costs. And pass the savings directly to riders.
The result was e-bikes like the Wayfarer and Voyager—launched at under £1000. That wasn‘t just competitive pricing. It was a statement.
As Alan, ESKUTE’s CEO, put it: “Eskute is derived from the Portuguese word ‘escute‘, which means ‘to listen‘. Similarly, the inspiration of our new models‘ names is also from Portuguese: Polluno comes from the Portuguese word for the planet Pluto, and Netuno is inspired by the Portuguese word for Neptune and the Greek God Poseidon. As the farthest planets in our solar system, Neptune and Pluto represent the long distances that our vehicles can travel. Furthermore, Polluno combines the words ‘pollution‘ and ‘no‘ to highlight Eskute‘s support and promotion of environmental protection”.
The Growth: From Two Models to a Full Lineup
What started with the Wayfarer and Voyager has grown into a diverse product range:
- Polluno series – 28-inch city e-bikes for urban commuting
- Netuno series – 27.5-inch mountain e-bikes for trails and mixed terrain
- Star series – fat tire bikes for extra stability and versatility
- M100/C100 series – entry-level models for everyday commuters
- F100/F200 series – folding e-bikes for space-saving storage
- ES MAX scooter – 450W electric scooter for short-distance travel
Each model reflects the same philosophy: reliable, affordable, and built for real people.
The Impact: 60,000 Riders and Counting
Today, ESKUTE has over 60,000 active riders. Together, they‘ve saved over 7 million pounds of CO₂ emissions.
That‘s not just a number. That‘s 60,000 people choosing a cleaner way to commute. 60,000 people reclaiming their time. 60,000 people proving that electric transportation doesn‘t have to be a luxury.
As the brand puts it: “Our vision is to harness the power of affordable electric bikes to create a greener planet—where every pedal stroke contributes to a sustainable future”.
Why It Matters
There are plenty of e-bike brands out there. But ESKUTE is different.
It‘s a brand built by battery experts who understand what makes an e-bike reliable. It‘s a brand built by engineers who design for real-world use. And it‘s a brand built by people who listened—to riders, to the market, and to what actually matters.
That‘s the ESKUTE story. And it’s still being written.
